St. Thomas Family Portal
St. Thomas family members are encouraged to sign up for the St. Thomas Family Portal. This online portal generates content specific to you and your student.

Frequently Asked Questions
General Information
The student is responsible for all their personal information. Your student can update their mailing address through Murphy Online. The Registrar's Office must have something in writing from the student or an e-mail from the student (sent to registrar@stthomas.edu) for the release of any of their personal information.
Proxy Information
University of St. Thomas (UST) students can authorize other individuals access to certain portions of their academic records. These individuals are known as proxy users. Through UST Murphy Online, students have the ability to select, from a list of authorizations, which pieces of information their proxy can view. Information given to the proxy will be available in “Read Only” format. The proxy will not be able to update any student information or request any written documentation via their Proxy Access. The University Registrar webpage has further information.
Housing Assignments should be expected via email at the end of July.
All of the Residence Halls are open throughout the academic year. However, students MUST register with their hall director to remain in the halls over break; they must also advise if they need to leave for a period of time during a break. Food service may NOT be available during breaks; students should be attentive to changes in service availability and prepare accordingly.

Encourage your student to get their name on the waitlist for the course, and also to speak to the professor.
We hope that your student will communicate with you if they are experiencing academic difficulties, but in accordance with FERPA (Federal Educational Rights & Privacy Act) we do not notify parents about their student’s academic standing. An email message is sent to each student on academic probation and a certified letter and e-mail message is sent to each student who has been academically suspended or dismissed from UST. Probation/suspended/dismissed students are encouraged to meet with an academic counselor, and if your student would like you to participate in this meeting, that would be fine.
Billing and Finances
The University uses the eBilling process. All students must participate in eBilling as statements are produced in electronic format only.
When a new statement has been posted to the system, an email message will be sent to the St. Thomas student email address. In addition to the student email address, notifications will also be sent to the email account(s) specified in the authorized user profiles created by your student.
You have several options for paying your student's statement:
- If your student has set you up as an authorized user, you can login to the ÀÇÓÑÊÓƵ eBill/ePay System and pay the statement electronically.
- You can also print off a copy of the statement and mail a payment (check, money order, or cashier's check made out to University of St. Thomas) to:

Tuition payments are due on the 19th of the month. The first due date for fall semester is Sept. 19. If you have additional questions or concerns, contact the Business Office at (651) 962-6600.
If you want your student to be considered for financial aid from all sources (federal, state and St. Thomas), and types (grants, scholarships, loans and work), you must reapply each year by completing the .
Factors such as family size, number of family members in college, income and assets may change each year and these are the factors used to determine a family’s ability to pay for college each year.
St. Thomas has defined estimated allowances for budget components of attending the University; these can be used for budgeting purposes and applying for Financial Aid. Note these figures are estimates and your actual costs may differ.

Financial Aid may be available to assist you with your direct costs (i.e. tuition, fees, on campus housing, meal plan) and other indirect costs (off campus housing, food, books, supplies, course materials, equipment, transportation, personal expenses, etc.).
Work-Study and Student Employment
Work-Study/Student Employment awards are listed on the Notification of Award as financial aid; however, a work award does not guarantee a job. Students need to seek, apply for, and obtain their job. Available jobs are posted on the . First-year students may begin their job search in July and August, but most students begin looking and actually secure a job when they arrive on campus in September.
It is up to the student to decide how student employment earnings will be used to pay for college costs. Income earned from student employment is available every two weeks as a St. Thomas paycheck, direct deposit to a bank account, or as a payment towards a student's St. Thomas bill. Earnings from student employment programs are taxable income.

Health, Wellness and Safety
The mission of the University of St. Thomas Health Services is to provide high-quality, patient-centered health care that promotes the health and well-being of the entire ÀÇÓÑÊÓƵ community.
The Health Services staff includes internal medicine physicians, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physical therapists, certified medical assistants, and a registered dietitian. Our services include Primary Care, Psychiatric Care, Women's Health, Physical Therapy, Sports Physicals, Travel Clinic, Urgent Care and Wellness Services. We work closely with Counseling and Psychological Services, Health Promotion and Athletics. More information about Health Services is available on the Health Services webpage.

The Center for Well-Being offers on campus Counseling and Psychological Services.
The Center for Student Achievement is located in Murray-Herrick Campus Center, MHC 110. The Center's mission: Through its collaborative and holistic approach, the St. Thomas Center for Student Achievement works with students exploring, seeking support and searching for opportunities to enrich their academic experience. The Center provides services and programs in a welcoming environment to empower students to become confident, self-directed and engaged learners who are prepared to achieve their academic and personal goals.
Title IX and Sexual Misconduct
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in education. The University of St. Thomas (UST) mission and convictions embody UST’s commitment to promote and protect the personal dignity and well-being of every member of the UST community. Sexual harassment, sexual assault and other forms of sexual misconduct are antithetical to the commitment. Moreover, they constitute unlawful sex discrimination. UST prohibits all forms of sexual misconduct.
Any person who believes that the university is not in full compliance with Title IX should contact the Title IX Coordinator at title-ix@stthomas.edu or call 651-962-6882.
As a parent, this information is very hard to receive. You may feel free to advise your student to report their experience to the Minneapolis or St. Paul Police. If your student is not willing or able to take that step, they can confidentially go to Counseling and Psychological Services and/or Health Services located on campus in the Center for Well-Being (corner of Grand and Finn) to receive confidential assistance and treatment. Your student may also take advantage of sexual assault services off campus. Please see the resources below.
Support and services are available for students who know or have witnessed someone being harassed or assaulted. The Dean of Students sexual assault resource is a very good beginning. Personal support is available through Counseling and Psychological Services.

Hotels Near St. Thomas
We've partnered with area hotels so they provide discounted rates for visitors to ÀÇÓÑÊÓƵ campuses.

Tommie Parent Impact
The is a dedicated community of St. Thomas families passionate about advancing the mission of St. Thomas for their students and future Tommies.
Council members receive invitations to special events featuring key university leaders, where they can socialize and build relationships with fellow Tommie families. All members have made a significant financial commitment to St. Thomas.
On Tommie Give Day, the entire ÀÇÓÑÊÓƵ community rallies to support scholarship funding that ensures access to a whole-person education for current and future Tommies. Tommie Give Day typically lands in November. Be on the lookout for communications each fall for more information, or .
The Tommie Parent Impact Challenge combines the efforts of Tommie families to inspire others to give on Tommie Give Day to a designation of their choice.
