As an Entrepreneurship major or minor, you'll gain the knowledge and skills to start your own business, purchase and expand an existing business, go into a family business or work for a large company. Learn how to develop a business plan, identify opportunities and manage resources. Many people with an entrepreneurial background want to start their own business, but you can also use these skills to , and help launch new products and services. A highly engaged faculty and small class sizes ensure that you receive plenty of individual attention, and your faculty advisor offers guidance and support.     All undergraduate business students are required to take liberal arts core curriculum courses, foundational and major-specific business courses, and allied courses from outside the College of Business in key areas such as economics, math, and statistics.

    STUDY ABROAD: Your second or third years are ideal for semester-long or short-term (January) international programs.

    As a junior and senior, you’ll take upper-level specialized courses specific to your chosen major, as well as business electives.

    In addition to your major courses, you’ll also take interdisciplinary liberal arts courses in the throughout your four years.

    Degree Awarded

    Students who complete th required coursework receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Entrepreneurship, or a minor in Entrepreneurship to complement their non-business major/degree.

    Tutoring

    Your professor is always available to help you with your coursework. If you need extra help with your core courses in accounting, finance, or operations, free tutors are also available. Whether you're stuck on an assignment or want help preparing for an exam, our tutors are always glad to work with you. You can schedule a 30-minute one-on-one appointment, or drop in during open hours.

    Internships

    St. Thomas maintains a large network of alumni and local business connections, which leads to real-world learning opportunities, internships and -oftentimes- employment after graduation. When you're ready for an internship, the Career Development Center can help you find a position that supports your professional goals.

    The Schulze School of Entrepreneurship also offers a unique Summer Internship Grant to help students intern at companies that may not be in a position to pay market wages, such as startups and nonprofits.

    Students studying entrepreneurship have access to apply to funding their entrepreneurial education and efforts through Schulze School of Entrepreneurship scholarships, funds, and competitions.

    Schulze Innovation Scholarship Program

    The Schulze Innovation Scholarship program is a four-year, full-tuition scholarship and premier academic program. It’s designed to help launch the careers of students ready to tackle big challenges through innovation and entrepreneurial leadership. Receive guidance launching new start-up ventures, pursuing careers that drive innovation within large corporations or leading new social impact ventures.

    Schulze Innovation Fund

    The Schulze Innovation Fund is invested in entrepreneurial students and alumni to help launch and grow their businesses. Recipients of the fund are also connected to valuable mentors and advisors who help them plan for sustainable success. Selected ventures can receive up to $75,000 as equity or a convertible note with possible follow on investment.

    Competitions

    Entrepreneurship competitions offer students the chance to sharpen and showcase their innovative talents. Competitions include the Fowler Business Concept Challenge, the Fowler Global Social Innovation Challenge, the St. Thomas Business Plan Competition and the national e-Fest competition. These competitions offer opportunities to win scholarships as well as funding for your business idea.

    Learning Through Service: Business 200

    We believe that businesses need to be socially responsible in the communities where they operate. All undergraduate business majors and minors are required to complete BUSN 200, a zero-credit, tuition-free course that includes 40 hours of community service and a series of reflective seminars. This service learning helps you grow into a highly principled global business professional, and an effective and ethical leader who's prepared to make positive contributions in both your profession and community.
