Global Learning and Strategy

Global Learning and Strategy (GLAS) supports the university mission by increasing intercultural understanding, supporting diversity initiatives, and enhancing global connections. We do this by:

  • recruiting undergraduate students from around the world
  • supporting international students, faculty, and staff through programming, immigration advising, and advocacy
  • facilitating off-campus study experiences for students and faculty
  • supporting faculty in on-campus courses and partnerships
  • reducing international risk for the university
  • supporting students in applications for prestigious international scholarships

St. Thomas Study Abroad offers over 300 different program options in more than 50 countries. 47% percent of our undergrads study abroad at least once.

Risk management is one of the university's priorities and travel risk management is a focus for Global Learning and Strategy. The University of St. Thomas has processes in place to promote safe international travel when students, faculty, and staff travel abroad for university purposes.

GLAS and the Office of Academic Affairs support the Director of Prestigious International Scholarships at St. Thomas. The Director coordinates these prestigious grants and scholarships, which offer international opportunities for students in a wide array of fields of study.

AIEA brings together international education leaders into dialogue with each other, their counterparts around the world, organizations that promote international education, and organizations concerned with the shaping and management of international higher education.

Association of International Educators is the world's largest and most diverse nonprofit association dedicated to international education and exchange, working to advance policies and practices that ensure a more interconnected, peaceful world today and for generations to come.

The American International Recruitment Council (AIRC) members have access to a powerful global network and opportunities to learn from the best in the field. As a result, our association members built innovative, reliable international student recruitment systems.

The Forum on Education Abroad works towards cultivating educators who champion high-quality education abroad experiences that ignite curiosity, impact lives and contribute to a better world. The Forum provides training, events, resources and expertise that supports their mission.
