    Optional Practical Training (OPT) is temporary employment that is directly related to an F-1 student's major area of study.

    Who is Eligible

    • Must maintain a valid F-1 status and must have been a full-time student for one academic year.
    • Must apply for OPT no more than 90 days before your program end date and no later than 55 days after your program end date.
    • Must not have worked 12 months or more of full-time CPT in that degree level.
    • No offer letter is required for the OPT application.
